I’m Yoann and you’re on my channel my life in the USA So we’re here today for a new episode of my American kitchen so today we’re gonna make a new recipe, that I particularly like it’s the banana bread recipe let’s see first of all the ingredients now that you have all the ingredients that you need let’s do it but before it; let’s not forget the apron I’ll use as usually, cups and measuring spoons but obviously you have the details in the description below let’s pre heat your oven at 350°F your oven is pre-heating you can start with the first ingredient, the butter either normal or salted I’m using salted butter here let’s melt 115g of butter this recipe is from my host mom Danielle just like the pancake one given by her grand mother from Norway so it”s a family recipe that I share with you today Banana bread is a part of the American culture you have to know that there is even a banana bread day on February 23rd don’t forget it you’ll be able to make your own American banana bread in my recipe I use nuts, but you can also use chocolate chips or nothing as you want as I always say, I give my recipe but you have to create, try it as you want and create new recipe let’s try with the 1st ingredient, so 115g of melted butter that you’ll pour in the dish then one cup of sugar so 200g of sugar the next step is to mix the butter and the sugar when it’s well mixed, we can add the 2 eggs the recipe says to add one egg at a time, so let’s follow the recipe ! 1st egg let’s go let’s mix the 1st egg and the 2nd one and let’s mix it the next step is the milk let’s add 1/2 cup of milk in other words, 120ml of milk if you are lactose intolerant, you can replace it by soy/almond milk; or anything you want let’s mix once it’s well mixed, we can add the baking soda in the USA they use baking soda I feel like it’s something not very popular in France it’s baking soda you can buy it at the store or in a pharmacy I thought it was kinda weird at first because in France we usually use baking powder you can probably an equivalence in France but for the real American recipe, baking soda 1 teaspon around 8g if you have used salted butter don’t use salt if you have used normal butter you can add a pinch of salt the next step is flour 280g of flour=2 cups it’s a banana bread, so in a banana bread, what do we have? Bananas For a banana bread, you need ripe bananas when they are black like that it’s perfect because we’re going to crush them we’re going to make a banana purée (mashed bananas) they need to be very soft. so 3 ripe bananas if you need to do a banana bread and you don’t have ripe bananas you can use normal bananas, you peeled them and let them stay for around 20 min and they’ll be soft enough to be mashed it’s the most fun part, just grab a fork and mash the bananas for the info, bananas arrived in the U.S. in the 1870s history says that women started baking banana breads during great depression around the 1930’s because babanas were very expensive and you didn’t want to waste ripe bananas that’s why banana breads became very popular in the 30’s once your bananas are well mashed you just need to add them to the batter and mix the whole thing in my recipe I add nuts, you can add chocolate or anything I love with walnuts to add some crunchiness I’ll add 1/2 cup of walnuts when it’s well mixed, get a cake dish that you’ll grease to then put the batter when the dish is greased, just add the batter it’s the last step the batter is in the dish the last step is the cooking you’re oven is at 350°F just add the dish with the batter during 45 min we just have to wait for the banana bread to be baked to see if it’s baked, just insert a tooth pick in the middle and if it comes out clean it means the cake is baked so there we go, it’s over the banana bread is ready to be eaten let’s do the tasting look at this soft loaf delicious now that you know how to make an American banana bread don’t hesitate to share the picture of your American banana bread on facebook, twitter, intagram tag me for me to see it if you liked it, give it a big thumbs up share it with your friends, family and everybody as always andI’ll see you on my channel my life in the USA ! bye !
