How to eat a Passion Fruit! with Raihana's Cuisines

hello everyone welcome back to another great episode of her house cuisines today I think you can tell by the smile on my face that I'm super excited and went to one of my Asian stores today and I did not expect it at all at this time of the year to find passion food so I thought um we all in our house we absolutely love passion for we've been you know I grew up in a tropical country and um you know this was everyday thing that we could get in here it's like a commodity it's like it's like we get it once in a while and we absolutely enjoy it so now that I got these passion food I'm going to cut it open I want to talk a little bit about it and then I will also be doing a couple a a couple of recipes that we can use the passion fruit in but if you don't have any recipes at the point at this time and just eat it just like that it's just an amazing amazing fruit it contains loads and loads of proteins minor minerals and vitamins now this is a purple passion fruit and I think you can get a yellow passion for too but they say that the purple passion fruit is extremely sweet and very flavorful so basically when you get something like this now this I'm in Minnesota one passion fruit costed me $2 yeah it's pretty expensive but I tell you it's totally worth it so you want to cut it open now I did use a knife but I'll show you that you don't really need to you can just kind of well we used to do this in Africa and I wonder if it's going to open oh there we go so it did open for us and so if you don't have a knife and you're out and you want to eat it I just wanted to show you that you don't need a knife to open it and it opens up actually this was really good so at least you can see so you see how it's a fruit it smells amazing in here just wish we had smell-o-vision and you can see all these seeds in here and it's just amazing and then inside you will see these little red or little black seeds and they're pretty crunchy now one piece of advice is you know a lot of people use this and they they strain it but if you if you're doing if you're doing it for health reasons um I really really recommend that you eat this just the way it is it has too many things it's got the vitamin E it's got vitamin C it's very high in fiber it's also high in iron potassium and magnesium like all I can say is this food is pleasantly sweet and tart and the other thing I also wanted to mention is it's also known as gran gran meda i think if i'm pronouncing it right but i just wanted to see how much full fruit this is going to yield and i'm also going to give it a try although i have to be very careful because of the seeds in there that i chew it really really well okay you just don't want to get any other white stuff in here this is one fruit that is really good if anybody that has a very low immune system this is great for your immune system and it's also really really good it reverses cholesterol and it's got a component in it that helps regulate heart rate and blood pressure so I just I didn't want to sound like a health um thing but I really wanted to let you know that it's just so full of it's so full of nutrients and simple things that you can do with this passionfruit is add a little bit of honey and a little bit of yogurt and you have a dessert right there um it's absolutely wonderful now I am going to admit to you that this particular um passion fruit is pretty tart I mean it's quite tart I don't know if you could hear that crunch or my eyes closing because it's super tart so when we used to get them back in Africa in Tanzania they were super sweet and I think if I were to wait and the skin will completely get wrinkled and then if I get into it I think it's going to be pretty sweet so this was just a very quick video for all those out there that might see these in your own grocery store and don't know what it is it's a passion fruit it's amazing try buy one tried it's got lots and lots of health um health benefits so thank you so much for joining me on this episode of Hannah's cuisines hope you can join me here next time with another great video see you then friends
