Denise Austin’s Cookie Gives Fitness Tips and Exercises | Treat Yourself | Allrecipes.com

– Hi everybody! It’s Denise Austin. You might recognize me
from exercise videos. I’ve been writing exercise
books and fitness videos for over 30 years and I’m here today to show you how I’m gonna
make my own look on a cookie! And I’m not that creative,
but I’ll try my very best. (bright gentle music) Let’s start off with
legs and arms and limbs. I do enjoy sweets, but I try to remember all the time about balance. 80 percent I eat well and 20
percent I enjoy my treats, and this would be a fabulous treat. I first started in fitness
because I was a gymnast as a little child. I did gymnastics and I earned
a full athletic scholarship to college where I got my
degree in exercise physiology. I then started on “The Jack LaLanne Show” and then from that
point on I started to do “The Today Show”, then I
had my own show on ESPN and then I did Lifetime
and then it kept going. So I work really hard and I love feeling I’m out there helping people. It’s a wonderful feeling to
have a career that’s out there positive, helping people
and I’m doing it even today. Okay, I’m continuing making more frosting to kind of give a base. I sometimes do leg squats in the kitchen. So you could turn some
idle time into toning time. I see these cute little eyes right here but I have blue eyes so
I wonder if I should put a couple of these instead. My mom growing up was such a great cook. She had five kids, all of us loved food and one of the best things she’s taught me is to just cook from scratch. We always sat down for
meals at most evenings and that’s what I brought
my daughters up with, sit-down meals because
I believe at dinner time is a perfect time to catch up, talk to each other and
really eat healthy foods. And I know exactly what type
of foods and ingredients I put into my food. So I do try to eat most nights at home. Now hair. Well, I guess I have blonde hair. This is very fun for me. Something I rarely do. I have a brand new “Stop
The Clock” nutrition guide. What’s great about that, it’s designed for women over 40. When I turned 40 I wanted to make sure I was eating better foods
for me so I feel good. You know we gotta look good
still and still feel good. I want to be active and that’s
what “Stop The Clock” is. It’s a nutrition guide and a fitness guide for all of us women over 40. There are a lot of times I
don’t want to exercise, even me. I promise you the first
four minutes are tough, but once you get past four
minutes you start to feel good, the endorphins are going and
the thing that motivates me the most is I know how much
better I feel after a workout. And that is that wonderful feeling of self-accomplishment, you did it. Okay, now I’m going to make a smile. I always have a smile. I believe in positive thinking. There’s three things I always tell people. You choose to what you eat, so
put good foods in your mouth. You choose to how you think
so be positive, be optimistic. And you choose how to move, so move. Did you know standing burns
more calories than sitting? So try to do things throughout the day that will get you moving. I guess I need a nose, right? The biggest things that I believe in is drinking water every single day, trying to fit in 20 minutes to 30 minutes every other day for fitness. Either walking or some type
of toning your muscles. And then stretching is so important, especially after 40, after 50. Stretching gives you flexibility. It helps to improve your moods too. The oxygen flows through
the body to stretch. Tootsie rolls are my favorite candy. This is my snack whenever
I want something sugary I go for a tootsie roll. Mmm, so good. And I’m gonna make a few little hands. I always do a muscle, like flex! So I was trying to make it flex to show some arm muscles. So I’m not so sure how
well I did, but it’s okay because it’s fun and it
has a smile on my face so that’s important right? That way you can walk into a
room with a smile on your face and feel positive and everyone
around you will feel good because that’s what life’s all about. And now cookie Denise
is going to teach you some easy desk exercises. So elbows go back and
stretch your back up and out and then do a little twist. Your spine is your
lifeline, keep it healthy. And while you do that,
really tighten up your body and your abs. Now one of my favorite
exercises is a tricep exercise. You just stretch it forward and up. Thank you everybody for watching! Remember stay fit
because you are worth it. And follow me at deniseaustin.com or on Instagram
@deniseaustin and Facebook. Love you guys, stay fit
and healthy forever. (upbeat music)
