Catch, Cook, Eat! BLUE CRABS!! How To Catch & Eat Crabs!

Catch, Cook, Eat! BLUE CRABS!! How To Catch & Eat Crabs!

all right today we're going to be taking all these crap awesome you're going to be buying chicken next and go crabbing so basically if you guys want to see what we're using right quick this is called a crab pot so basically this local farm it opens up here and you can put your chicken fish whatever you want in there and that is what is going to draw the crabs and they are going to come in these little splits right here and right here basically once you put them inside there you just close the Bundy up and you drop it to the ground just like that and it will sit there and the crabs will come in the side and they will not be able to find their way out as a guy yeah YouTube so basically they get stuck in here and then we have a rope tied and we just pull it up this little compartment comes out and you just dump them out when it comes to crabbing I prefer to use chicken as bait do we picked up a few packs of chicken necks from the store which are very inexpensive and we loaded the pots with them next I had to get into the water and walk the pots away from the heavily fishing pier by the way if you ever do plan on doing this make sure to wear something that will protect your feet because there are a lot of sharp objects below the water so my main goal is to get the pots away from everybody else's fishing and try to find a place with the pots where people would not end up finding them so a types of pots to these pillars and I tied the knot as low as possible to hide all evidence of the crab pots because people did they see your possibility there comes to your crabs or your pots so you got to definitely hide them when you're leaving them in overnight or for a couple days or whatever but yeah this was our first day of our vacation so we came out here and put five pots into soap I started to walk back to the pier but I just had a weird feeling that I had messed something up in one of the pots so I actually pulled that pot back up and actually had a little crab in it so I thought that was pretty cool and it was awesome because it was in it for like five minutes so I definitely had a better feeling about leaving these pots in overnight so I had just one more Cod to put in but you can see in these following clips how amazing the sunset was it was just great being out there and I was just excited to come back the next day to see if we caught some dinner he's sleeping it was just Oh coldish here we go with hot number one let's see beyond Krabs we got a bunch of email so we definitely had a bunch of pregnant females and a lot of females in general but we definitely had some keeper males who I was very happy it was pretty hard to sort these crabs out on the water but our priority was to keep the pregnant female safe and return them back to the water as quickly as possible and as you can see I rebated the pots because we were going to soak them in for another day pulling up these pots is super exciting because you really never know what's in them and you never know how many crabs you're going to get or how many crabs you're not going to get liking this when you get to there's a strake wall sitting on top of the pot like believe I'm taking that memory yeah we got some nice ones pot after pile we actually continue to pull out a decent amount of crabs yeah we gotta fund it a lot of pregnant females would definitely a lot of nice keepers too next came time to measure and source the crab as you guys can see this is the majority of what we've been pulling out this is a pregnant female so we're just gonna let her go if you guys can see by the underskirt this is what a male looks like it has a long skinny body this little t-shirt show you what a female figure this more of a u-shape underskirt that is a female we usually throw these back because they're spawning right now so in Delaware as you can see hard crabs have to be 5 inches so you just measure from point to point here and you can see this one short a little bit so we just let them go let you guys can see it clearly meets the five inch point to point overall we ended up pulling in 23 keepers this day which was way more than I expected and next when we got home it was time to clean the crabs before we ended up actually cooking them we stick a screwdriver in the back of the shell and pop the shell oh this instantly kills the crab and we find this to be the most humane way to do it now this year is a tradition in my family we cook crabs and spaghetti now not everybody likes them that is why they're steamed crabs on the side as well but crabs and spaghetti but the spaghetti sauce and all is just nothing's better the second time we went out we got about a dozen crabs which obviously wasn't as good as the first time but it was still a lot of fun to go get them and here's the third time that we went out we actually ended up getting a 1012 again we had a bunch of pregnant female crabs again because it is crabs spawning season but we also think that somebody messed with our pots because some of them were very dry and we had these out for longer than the other two times so we think that somebody might've messed with our pots and stole some of our crabs which is not cool but this time sorting the crabs and getting them out of the pot was ten times easier since we just brought them up on land and I'm going to show you guys how I ended up cooking these crabs I just finished rinsing everything is very important to actually rinse everything off when you use it because it is in salt water and salt water can corrode and eventually destroy your crab pots and all of your crabbing gear always remember to give it a good rinsing and the good wash our so our catch today is going to go in this bowl right here and we're just going to cook it up and see how it is so I put the crabs in this pot with just enough water to steam them and you put some old bay in there all right so just do these crabs in here there's some old bay on them and once they turn red juicer almost done chaos all right that is looking pretty good our crabs are turning red Oh perfect all right so now we caught the crabs and I'm going to show you how I eat them right quick so as you can see this guy is a male right here so the first thing I do when I eat a crab is I go through the back little flap right here I stick my finger in I just pop the back shell off right there so you want to do with this is just want to pull all the guts out and all the lungs of stuff I mean some people eat these what I would rather not eat these so I just kind of pull them out our space cruiser then this is what you're left with and I just kind of do a little split in half and there's a bunch of different sections with me here you've got the cual you've got the legs and you've got the inside body meat so I usually go for the legs first you just kind of break them off this and as you break the little ligaments you could feed a little bit of meat that comes out there and all you do with that you just tuck it right off you shouldn't say suck it right off as you squeeze that you get some more me I so that's the little pins and the legs do the same thing with that the koalas just pop right off you can see there's a little bit of meat there I just put that a little bit garlic butter that I need it up then all you do with this and these parts here are the Quall and this little part of the call are really hard to get into so you're going to have to use your mouth to that I'll show you that later but then going back to the body meat you can get a lot of meat out of this body portion this is where a lot of the meat of the crab is you can see I just peeled it back this is all meeting here in here so you kind of just grab it and just take a little bit and then just that in the little garlic butter and garlic butter is so good with these crabs the crabs already good with the guard clutters negative ten times better so basically we got the limbs here we got the body now I'll show you guys the claw what I usually do I just break clip with a cloth like that and you just did that in a little butter like that and you could also if you don't have any tools you can use this little piece as a tool to scrape you know the other parts but and then what you got to do is take your hammer we should not do that on the plate just got a hammer a little bit until correct I'm going to makes it 10 times easier to open up and get all the meat out in my opinion the qualities really have the best meat and that's pretty much it that's basically the way that I impress not always used to butter but garlic butter make it ten times better sometimes so never had crap so she's just definitely going out and trying what I did or just buying them at the market crabs are awesome and definitely one of my favorite foods so we ended up getting around 50 crabs total within three times that we went to pull up the pot and I believe we spent under $15 on all the bait so 50 crabs for under $15 it's just really awesome price crafts can be super expensive so going again yourself is definitely the way to go in my opinion and we also had a lot of fun doing it so if you enjoyed this video please make sure to give me a thumbs up I would really appreciate it thank you for everybody who's been subscribing and supporting thank you to everybody who's been subscribing and supporting it it's just amazing how much support we are getting on the channel and let's just keep it rolling and I'm so much fun I keep saying it so let's keep it rolling thank you all again for watching I will see you guys next video peace
