🍽️CROISSANT BREAD PUDDING – RADBOUD RECEPTEN 🍽️


It’s thursday again, time to start cooking! As you can see i’m in Hatert once again. Today, i will be cooking with Janet. She is a roommate from Lila, from the first episode. And this time, we’re going to make a dessert. So Janet, here i am, once again in Hatert. But with somebody else. But it’s the same house. I’m guessing we will not be making vegan lasagna today? What’s happening? It’s a flashback. Look at that! It could be in a magazine for sure! No, but it is vegan. What will we be making? We are going to make a dessert. Tasty! It’s called Croissant Bread Pudding with Caramelized Apples. Bread Pudding with Caramelized Apples.. That already sounds delicious. What ingredients do we need? Croissants, of course. Custard powder. Brown sugar. Lemon juice Two apples. Sweetened soy cream. Vegan butter. And… cinnamon! That makes it really nice. So i think we can start cooking! What do we need to do first? We need to peel the apples and cut them into small pieces. So the first step is: peel the apples and cut them into pieces. And do we need to preheat the oven? Yes to 165 degrees. So preheat the oven to 165 degrees. When entering i saw your… door mat with your name on it? Yes, it’s my name and title: speech and language therapist. So i’m a language therapist. You are a language therapist? Nice! But do you still study? Or are you already working? I’m doing a pre-Master’s programme, to study Language and Speech Pathology later. Language and Speech Pathology? That sounds difficult! What is it exactly? Officially, it is a Master in Linguistics. And it is a logical continuation after becoming a speech therapist. It has something to do with, when speech and language don’t go well, so pathologies. It explores that and also explores the target audience of these pathologies. How many fingers do you have left? Ten! Me too! So the apple cutting was successful. I think we can go to the kitchen now? Now we need the apples. If i say it correctly? Apple, sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon and butter. That’s step two! First, you put a tablespoon of butter in the pan. Then, you add two tablespoons of sugar. The order doesn’t really matter that much. I am just repeating after Janet. Really original. Then, you add a tablespoon of lemon juice. If you like acidity, you can add two tablespoons. Not recommended. And real dare devils will use nitric acid. Okay, now we toss the apple pieces into the pan. Without dropping everything on the sides. Pro tip: toss the apple into the pan, not on the sides. One teaspoon of cinnamon. The apples continue to cook, it already smells delicious. In the meantime, we’re going to prepare the custard. And we will also shred the croissants into small pieces. You can get aggressive when doing that. I recommend you use some aggression, for example after a bad exam. I’m being told we need to add three tablespoons of custard powder to the sweetened cream. That’s the smallest whisk i have ever seen. You can get them even smaller, but i don’t have those. We let this rest for a few minutes, because we need to shred the croissants first. Then, we pour the custard on top of it. To get a crispy layer, we sprinkle two tablespoons of sugar on top of it. How long do we have to cook the pudding? 35-40 minutes. I will put it on the table. This smells REALLY good. What grade would you give this dessert? That’s a good question! At least 9,5 out of 10, maybe 10 out of 10. I’m happy with that! This is really, really delicious.
